Recover ShopSabre CNC From a Crash

Hold up. How big of a crash? Are things dangling? Is power spewing? Immediately turn off the power at the breaker (by the garage door).

If it was minor (though no crash is minor), continue:

Check:

• CNC:
  • Servos - overload, recycle controller
  • VFD - check for error state. Manually start-stop spindle: M3/M5
  • Verify zero on all axis

  • If spindle stuck on tool changer: remove bolts on the tool holder

    Tools: 

  • Integrity: chipped, dull, broken?
  • Collet: is tool held securely, collet loose, tool dropped?
• Cause of crash - Do not continue until the cause has been identified and rectified.
