Manually Set Tool height for ShopSabre in WinCNC

If the tool setter isn’t connected or you need to set a tool height without an auto tool setter, here’s how to manually set a tool length on your ShopSabre with WinCNC:

1. Check the WinCNC Tool Library for and note the height of the tool you are setting
2. Load the tool manually into the spindle.
3. Type T8 and Return (or whatever tool number you’re setting).
4. Jog Z down until the tool touches your reference surface that you set Z0 to (like the phenolic top).
5. Type Z0 and Return to set the current position as Z zero.
6. Type L90 and Return store the current Z as the tool length offset.

You can confirm it worked by moving away, typing T8 again, jogging down to Z0, the tool should return to the same spot.

Check the tool library for the tool you set the height for, it should have changed from the original.
